The Davey Foundation began by awarding 3 grants in 2014: 1 in film, and 2 in theatre in partnership with Salt Lake City Theatres Plan-B and Salt Lake Acting Company.
In 2015, in partnership with the local Theatres, and through the support of our generous donors and Film Xchange, The Davey Foundation awarded 4 film grants and 2 theatre grants.
In 2016, the Foundation continued to award 4 film and 2 theatre grants.
In 2017, the Foundation awarded 4 narrative film grants as usual, and added a documentary grant, for 7 total grants.
This year, the Foundation will be awarding 3 narrative film grants and 1 theatre grant in partnership with SLAC.
The film grants consist of either dollar grants ($5000), or gear grants (valued at $10,000) donated by Film Xchange. Grantees also receive mentorship from experienced filmmakers, including in past years Sundance film festival participants Dustin Guy Defa (Person to Person) and Kenny Riches (The Strongest Man). See the website’s Film Grant page for more information.
The theatre grants consist of an opportunity to have your play workshopped and produced by a professional Salt Lake City theatre company. You can read more on this website about the specific grants in partnership with either Plan-B Theatre or Salt Lake Acting Company.
The film grant application period for the 2018 grants will open March 1. Please see the film grant page for more information on those grants.
The theatre grant application period for the 2018 grant in partnership with SLAC opened on January 8 and will close on February 26.
